Originally intended to support Catholic doctrine during the Protestant Reformation, this translation has undergone revisions, most significantly by Bishop Richard Challoner in the 18th century. Despite newer translations becoming more prevalent, many traditional English-speaking Catholics continue to prefer the Challoner version for its historical significance and textual fidelity.
